shake your fingers
Originally released in 2014, possibly the first kids’ song I wrote, evolving from Saturday morning English club with Wayne, a guitar and a few hand puppets. Working with kids is an education and you learn quickly what works. I discovered keeping them moving for 40 minutes fires their synapses, keeps the mischief at bay and brings them back for more.
I took 6 original songs to John Laudon in the summer of 2010. We went on to make 50 together which I’m happy to say were all (bar one) bought by Pearson Publishing. “Shake Your Fingers” became the flagship of the sounds ‘n ‘ stories brand.
The video is my directorial /motion(al)/editorial debut. Features many of my English students of the day and in all honesty was absolutely terrifying. Thanks to a great many parents and support from my family and friends to make it possible and to Johnathan Nguyen and Hari Ravi who shot the whole lot on a couple of SLRs
